Duality of Life
When life is going well or everything seems to be aligning, understand that this too shall pass.
Conversely, when everything seems to be falling apart or perhaps life is bringing about real adversity, the kind that weighs on your chest and clouds your every thought. Understand also, that this too shall pass.
Once you truly grasp this concept, you begin to understand that life is made of ups and downs, peaks and troughs, ebbs and flows. Such is the nature of the human experience. Such is the rhythm we are all bound to.
When you understand this duality, you begin to see life through an entirely different lens. Consider that all matter in this universe is crafted by the bonding of billions of microscopic atoms, too small to be seen by the naked eye. Each atom is shaped by the negative charge of an electron and the positive charge of a proton, and within it lies a neutrally charged neutron, holding the balance. Even at the smallest level of existence, life is built on opposition finding harmony.
This duality of life speaks to the duality of the universe itself. The law of opposites. The yin and the yang in physical expression. The feminine and the masculine. The polarity between the north and south poles of the earth. Every night is followed by day. Every sunset is superseded by a sunrise. What goes up must come down. Light is met with dark, and dark is met with light. Good is met with evil, just as evil is met with good. And what ultimately dies is rebirthed, carried forward through the spiritual realm alongside our Creator.
We are not meant to fight the current of life, only to move within it. All we can truly do is control what is ours to control, our thoughts, our actions, our character, and release our grip on what was never ours to control in the first place. There is a quiet freedom in that surrender. A peace that does not come from having all the answers, but from trusting the rhythm that has always been there.
So when life is beautiful, drink it in fully, knowing it is fleeting. And when life is hard, hold on gently, knowing that too shall pass. The wave always breaks. The sun always rises. And you, in the middle of it all, are exactly where you are meant to be.
